Book Review

The Dragonflies of Europe (2nd Edition), R. R. Askew

Book cover

Essentially a reprint of the 1988 classic, in a smaller size to make it more manageable in the field. A new supplement deals with an additional 10 resident species and several adventives, and provides updated distributional data. The book covers adults and larvae of all the European Odonata, though species only just reaching the area are treated very briefly. There are substantial text, keys, illustrations and distribution maps. It is still the key European reference work, though other titles are also now in preparation.
