The key site project aims to develop an agreed set of national criteria that may be applied to determine key dragonfly and damselfly sites throughout Britain
How to apply the criteria to your sites
The following diagram shows how to categorise sites, using records from the site over the last 10 years. For an explanation of each of the seven steps click on the grey boxes. This diagram is available to download as a pdf document.
Two examples are given to help to show the process of applying these key site criteria.
- Recording dragonflies in Attingham Park during 2006
- Monitoring dragonfly populations at Chartley Moss
Suggestion and Comments
These key site criteria represent a first attempt to produce an agreed set of national criteria and should be regarded as provisional. Improvements in these criteria will result from experience gained by their use in the field. Any comments or suggestions for improvements to these criteria would be welcomed, please send them to Stephen Prentice, Dragonflies in Focus Officer.
