Browser Requirements
Best viewed using high-colour mode (for photographs) and at least 800x600 screen resolution (1024x768 resolution or better preferred to minimise scrolling).

The site has been tested with Internet Explorer 7, Opera 9 and Firefox 2. Firefox is the recommended browser as it is the nearest to full standards compliance at present. If your browser does not support CSS-P (Cascading Style Sheets with positioning) pages should still be usable but the layout will be less elegant. If you have JavaScript turned off, or your browser does not support JavaScript, some features on a few pages will not work (e.g. the interactive map on the Key Sites pages). Cookies are used to record the date of each visit you make to a page so that you can be notified of which sections have been changed since your last visit. If you choose not to accept cookies this feature will not work. Cookies are only used for this purpose and are never sent to any third party.

There are many photographs on this website, particularly on the Checklist pages. All photographs published on this site are copyright of the original photographer and are reproduced with their permission. Please do not reuse them in other websites, publications or for display without asking permission. If you would like permission to use one or more of the photos, please send details of the subject, the photographer (shown on the copyright statement on the photo), your intended use and whether you wish to use a copy of the photo downloaded from the site or would like an original slide, or more detailed jpeg, for publication - note that a fee may be charged.

UK Species - A comprehensive list of all species observed in the British Isles. There are 2 subsections Dragonflies and Damselfies. There is a separate page of photographs and information for each species. Some species have a comprehensive Managemment Fact File.
Hot News - Recent news submitted by observers throughout the country detailing what they have seen. There is also a link to the previous years' news items.
Recording - Information about the recording of dragonflies together with assistance on preparing and submitting those records to the relevant recording authorities.
Diary - A Diary of events and field trips taking place over the coming months. Field reports for earlier years can be accessed from this page.
Projects - Detail of projects being carried out by the BDS and others. There is also information about the Philip Corbet Award Fund which can provide grants to assist young odonatists in their projects.
